What’s most interesting about these fake iPhones is that they were made from real iPhone parts. The assumption is that the companies that made supplies for Apple would make additional parts and sell them to third parties who would somehow assemble a Frankenstein of iPhone and non-iPhone parts together and sell them at double the cost. It would be interesting and surprising if they got iOS working on these. I’m guessing a flavor of Android with a iOS-like skin was used....

Apple has released the first macOS 10.12.6 beta for developer testing. The new update likely focuses on bug fixes and security improvements. Release notes for the update which is available to developers through the Mac App Store do not mention any specific focus areas. The new update follows one day after the public release of macOS 10.12.5 which was previously only available to developer and public beta testers. macOS 10.12.6 is currently available to registered developers; a public beta version may be available shortly....

Apple has introduced an amazing feature in iOS 16 called Depth Effect. The Depth Effect is an AI-based feature that understands the image and differentiates its main subject from the background on the Lock Screen Wallpaper. For example, if you set your photo with a black background, it will determine that you are the main subject and the rest is the background. After using the Depth Effect, your phone creates a layered effect with the image background as the first layer, the Lock screen clock as the second, and the subject as the third layer....

Dying Light 2 has now been released and many players are rushing to get started with the experience. But the game has had several problems since its release, one of which is a network disconnected error message that results in multiplayer co-op not working. Primary iPhone assembler Foxconn says that it has begun work on expansion plans for plants outside of China as it seeks to recover from production lost to the coronavirus outbreak. The company is also ‘cautiously’ resuming production in China… It does, however, warn that revenues will be hit in the meantime, reports Reuters. Reuters recently claimed that Foxconn was aiming to be at 50% of normal production levels in China by the end of February, but the company subsequently denied this....

The FBI is now leading the investigation into the alleged iCloud hack in which nude photographs of a number of celebrities were obtained, reports the Telegraph. FBI spokesperson Laura Eimiller said: It has been suggested that a vulnerability in the Find My Phone service may have allowed attackers to brute-force passwords in order to access the iCloud accounts of celebrities … The FBI previously ran an investigation leading to the prosecution of Christopher Chaney, who was jailed for ten years after posting naked photos from the phones and computers of Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis and other celebrities....
