Isonzo is a tactical new World War 1 FPS game developed by Blackmill Games and M2H. The game is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, and Linux. However, just like other video games, multiple players face the Isonzo game crashing issue on startup on the Windows PC.
Now, if you’re also one of the victims of such an issue, don’t worry. Here we’ve shared a couple of possible workarounds that should help you fix it. As the game is recently launched, we can assume that there may be several stability issues or bugs present. Whereas the startup crashing or the game not launching issue becomes quite common for PC games no matter whether you’re playing a new game or old one irrespective of PC specs.
Why is the Isonzo game Crashing?
The PC compatibility issue with the game’s system requirements can be a major reason you should check properly. While an outdated game version, a corrupted or missing game file, an outdated game client, a missing or outdated graphics driver, DirectX issues, unnecessary background running tasks, etc. can be a possible reasons behind crashing. Sometimes antivirus or firewall software blocking, startup app issues, etc., can trigger crashes.
Additionally, Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables issues, overclocked CPU/GPU, issues with overlay apps, temporary system files, etc. may also occur startup crashes on the PC. Luckily, there are some workarounds mentioned below that should come in handy. So, without wasting any more time, let’s jump into it.
Fix: Isonzo Keeps Crashing on Startup on PC
It’s recommended not to skip any method until the problem gets fixed because sometimes a pretty common workaround can also come in handy.
1. Check System Requirements
First, you should cross-check whether your PC configuration or specification is compatible enough with the game’s system requirements. The chances are high that somehow your PC specification becomes outdated or you’re having a low-end spec which will trigger the game crashing issue a lot. If your PC requires an upgrade, kindly do so. If your PC build is compatible enough, you can head to the next method.
Minimum Requirements:
- OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-4670K, AMD Ryzen 5 1400
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290, 4GB VRAM
- DirectX: Version 11
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
- Storage: 20 GB available space
Recommended Requirements:
- Processor: Intel Core i7-6700K, AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: GeForce GTX 1070, AMD Radeon RX 580, 8GB VRAM
- DirectX: Version 11
- Network: Broadband Internet connection
- Storage: 20 GB available space
2. Disable fullscreen optimizations
It seems that disabling the fullscreen optimization option did work for some users. To do so:

- Select Browse local files > Go to Isonzo installed location.
- Now, right-click on Isonzo.exe > Select Properties.
- Click on the Compatibility tab > Tickmark Disable fullscreen optimizations to enable it.
- Once done, click on Apply and then OK to save changes.
3. Run the Game File as an Administrator
It’s also recommended to always run the game executable file as administrator access on the Windows PC so the User Account Control (UAC) can allow all the access properly. Sometimes the system may think you’re trying to run the game without authorizing it. This is a one-time process for each game. Make sure to follow the steps below to do so:
Right-click on the Isonzo exe shortcut file on your PC.
Now, select Properties > Click on the Compatibility tab.
Make sure to click on the Run this program as an administrator checkbox to checkmark it.
Click on Apply and select OK to save changes.
You can just double-click on the game exe file to launch it.
Once done, you can also do the same steps for your specific game launcher (E.g., Steam and Epic Games Launcher) used to run the game. So, you’re giving the same UAC access to the game launcher too.
4. Update Graphics Drivers
You should try checking for the graphics driver update on your Windows PC and installing the latest version to ensure no update is pending. An outdated or missing graphics driver can trigger issues with properly functioning graphics-intensive programs. To do that:
Right-click on the Start Menu to open up the Quick Access Menu.
Click on Device Manager from the list to open the interface.
Now, you’ll need to double-click on Display adapters to expand it.
Then right-click on the dedicated graphics card name you’re using to bring the context menu.
Next, click on Update driver > Choose Search automatically for drivers.
The system will automatically check for the available update.
An update will automatically download and install the latest version if available.
Once done, make sure to restart your PC to apply the changes.
If you cannot find any update, then make sure to head over to the official graphics card website and search manually for the latest update. If a new version is available, just download the file on your PC and install it. Whatever graphics card you use, jump to the link below as per the manufacturer.
