In all of these scenarios, game developers can’t do anything as the problem lies at your end. So, try performing all the methods given below for a better result.
1. Check Minimum System Requirements
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 3.1Ghz / Intel i5-4460 3.2Ghz
- GPU: AMD R9 380 4GB / Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4GB
- Targeted frame-rate: 30fps
- RAM: 8GB (Dual-channel mode)
- Video preset: Low
- Resolution: 1080P
2. Update GPU Drivers
- Press Windows + X keys to open up the Quick Start Menu.
- Click on Device Manager > Click on the arrow icon of Display adapters to expand the list.
- Right-click on the dedicated graphics card > Select Update driver.
- Click on Search automatically for drivers and it’ll start searching for the available update.
- If available, it will automatically download and install the latest graphics driver version.
- Once done, restart your computer to apply changes > Try running the game again.

3. Scan and Repair Game Files
Sometimes the integrity of game files may either corrupted or gets missing due to some reason or conflict with the third-party programs or even removed by the Firewall/Antivirus program. So, it’s always a good idea to scan and repair the game files which is very easy.
- Launch the Battle.net client on your PC.
- Select Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (Call of Duty: BOCW) from the left pane.
- Now, click on Options > Select Scan and Repair.
- If prompted, proceed to the task and wait until the process completes.
- Simply restart your Battle.net client and try running the game again.
4. Run the game in DirectX 11

- Open the Battle.net client > From the left pane, select Call of Duty: BOCW.

- Now, restart your Battle.net client and try running the game again.

5. Close Background Running Tasks
Some of the third-party background running programs or tasks can also affect your system performance and even game launches. Make sure to close the background running processes AutoHotKey, MSI Afterburner, Overlay apps, Rivatuner app, etc. So, performing a clean boot of your system should work in most cases. To do this:
- Press Windows + R keys to open up the Run dialog box.
- Type msconfig in the text field and press Enter.
- Click on the Services tab > Select ‘Hide all Microsoft services’.
- Next, click on the ‘Disable all’ button > Click on ‘OK’.
- Now, go to the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys.
- Click on Processes > Search for the higher CPU/memory consuming tasks.
- Finally, click on those processes and select ‘End Task’ one by one.
- Restart your computer and try running the game again.
6. Run as administrator
- Go to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.
- Right-click on the BlackOpsColdWar.exe application > Go to Properties.
- Click on Compatibility.
- Enable the checkbox ‘Run this program as an administrator’.
- Click on ‘OK’ > Now, right-click on the Battle.net desktop app.
- Click on ‘Run as administrator’ > If prompted, click on ‘Yes’.
7. Link Battle.net account to Activision account
- Log in to your Battle.net account > Open another tab and log in to your Activision account as well.
- Head over to the ‘Account Linking’ option > Click on ‘Link With Battle.net Account’.
- Click on ‘Continue’ > Finally, try launching the COD: BOCW game via the Battle.net client.
8. Update Windows Build
- Go to Start menu > Click on Settings.
- Next, go to Update & Security > Click on Check for updates.
- If any update available, the system will automatically download and install it. [Alternatively, you can manually do the same]
- Once done, restart your computer and try running the game again.
