Fix: Apple Watch 7 Not Charging or Slow Charging Issue
Initially, you may think that the Apple Watch 7 is slow in charging but if you recall, the Apple Watch 7 supports fast charging that can be charged from 0-80% in around 45 minutes of charge using the Apple USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable along with an Apple 18W or higher USB-C Power Adapter. Now, if you’re not sure which power adapter you’re using, you can easily check out the wattage details at the top/bottom of the adapter.
As you’re now ensured that both the magnetic charging cable and power adapter are compatible with the fast charging of the Apple Watch 7, you can now jump into a couple of provided workarounds below that should help you out.
1. Reboot your Apple Watch 7
Well, switching off and then turning on the OS-running device may fix the temporary glitch or something like that. Make sure to simply reboot your Apple Watch 7 to clear out any kind of potential glitch completely. To do that:
- Press and hold the Side button on the Apple Watch 7 until the Power menu appears on the screen.
- Now, swipe the “Power Off” slider from left to right to power it off.
- Wait for a couple of minutes and then turn it on again by long-pressing the Side button for a few seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
- Leave the button now and wait for the watch to boot into the system.
- Finally, plug the Apple Watch 7 into the proprietary charger and check if it’s still not charging or slow charging.
2. Check if your Apple Watch is Charging or Not
When you connect your Apple Watch 7 to its charging cable and power the adapter, you should be able to see a green lightning bolt icon (charging indicator) on the screen just like you see on a smartphone or an iPhone.
If your watch has a low battery and it badly needs charging then a red lightning bolt (red charging indicator) will appear on the screen.
So, if you’re getting the red charging icon on the Apple Watch 7 screen, just leave it charging for at least 30 minutes or more to gather the juice. The red charging icon will eventually become a green charging icon (lightning bolt) over time.
If you want, you can press the side button to see the watch face.
3. If using a third-party Charger
If in case, you’re using a third-party charging stand for your Apple Watch 7 then we’ll recommend you use the proprietary charging cable that shipped by the manufacturer (out of the box) with your Apple Watch 7.
Fix: Apple Watch Series 7 Black Screen or Won’t Turn on
If your Apple Watch won’t charge or you see a message on your watch that “charging with this accessory isn’t supported”, make sure to follow the steps below:
- Check whether you plug the Apple Magnetic Charging Cable or USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable into the USB Power Adapter or not.
- Just properly plug the power adapter into a power outlet.
- Ensure that you’re using the Apple Magnetic Charging Cable or USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable that came with your Apple Watch.
- Remove any plastic wrap from both sides of the charger completely.
- The back of your Apple Watch and the magnetic charger surface should be clean to get the charging work.
- Place the back of your Apple Watch on the magnetic charger properly so the alignment fits perfectly. Now, you should see a green lightning bolt charging icon on the watch face.
- If your Apple Watch 7 still not charging or slow charging then force it to restart. Just press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
- Finally, let the watch boot to the system normally, and try charging it again.
Alternatively, you can try using a different Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Cable or USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable or a different USB Power Adapter to charge your Apple Watch 7. If your Apple Watch is out of power then you should have to wait a few minutes for the green lightning bolt charging icon to appear after you start charging it.
4. Contact Apple Support
If none of the methods worked for you, try contacting Apple Support for further assistance on the battery charging or draining issue. If your Apple Watch 7 is under warranty then ask for a replacement or repair. Otherwise, you can visit a local service center or local repair shop to get it fixed or replace the battery.
