The visually impressive Resident Evil 2 Remake forces players to return to the zombie-infested grounds of the Racoon City Police Department. The game, although a remake, builds upon the strengths of its original iteration through the inclusion of an over the shoulder 3rd person shooter style. The remake diverts in a variety of ways from its original version and introduces new challenges through the new gameplay style.
Two of the most important weapons to utilize in Resident Evil 2 Remake are Leon’s shotgun and Claire’s grenade launcher. However, it requires a fair amount of effort from the player to discover the two weapons. Luckily, both of the weapons are in the same location, dependent upon which character you choose will affect which weapon the player will discover.
Finding Leon’s Shotgun in Resident Evil 2 Remake
The location of Leon’s shotgun is incredibly easy to find, it is located in the safety deposit room in the Racoon City Police Department. When entering the room, head to the furthest locker from the door. The shotgun can be seen through the openings in the doors. However, the trouble in getting the shotgun lies in the fact that it requires the Weapon Locker Key Card, which can be found in the Art Room.
This is where retrieving the shotgun gets tricky, to get the weapon locker key card players will need to retrieve it from the Art Room, which requires the blue spade key. The location of this key is on the third floor of the police station, on the desk found directly through the hole in the wall.
After retrieving the key return to the main hall of the police station. Go up the stairs on the right side of the main hall, continue going upwards and make a right. You will find a small statue of a head, go through the door on the left of the statue. Here you will find a green herb and a safe behind the desk in the room. Using the key go through the only door in the room.
Once you get through the door take a left, then enter the first door on your right. This door will be labeled “art room” and is where you will find the key card. Once you enter the art room the key card will be directly in front of you. Make sure you have room in your inventory and collect the card and head back to the safety deposit room.
After you collect the key card, retrieving the shotgun is as simple as walking to the safety deposit room and heading to the locker holding the weapon. Just interact with the keypad to the right of the locker and use the weapons key card to open the door. Once open the locker holds a fully loaded shotgun and some spare shells.
After completing these steps, players will have one of the strongest weapons in Leon’s playthrough. Be conservative in using your shotgun shells, they are your best bet in defeating the powerful bosses in Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Finding Claire’s Grenade Launcher in Resident Evil 2 Remake
To find Claire’s grenade launcher, simply repeat the steps made to find Leon’s shotgun. It is crucial that players get the blue spade key, which is located on the third floor of the police station. It will be found on the desk directly through the hole in the wall on the upper level.
Once the key is found head back to the main hall. Once there, take the staircase to the right side of the hall and head towards the statue head on the upper level. Take the door to the left of the statue, here you will find a room with a green herb and a safe hidden behind a desk. Continue on to the next door in this room and use the key.
Once you exit the room take a left and enter the first door on the right. The door will be labeled as the “art room.” Once there, players will need to acquire the weapons key card found directly in front of the player once they enter the art room. Be sure you have inventory space when acquiring the key card. Then head back towards the safety deposit room.
Once back at the safety deposit room, head to the furthest locker in the room, there you will see the grenade launcher through the openings in the locker. Head towards the keypad located directly to the right of the locker. Interact with the keypad and use the key card item. Once this step is complete the doors will open and Claire’s most powerful weapon will be at your disposal.
This weapon is vital to completing Claire’s storyline due to its powerful grenades and a variety of different status effects that can be used through the weapon. Similar to Leon’s shotgun be careful not to waste any grenades. This weapon is essential to defeating the terrifying bosses of Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Utilizing The Best Weapons in Resident Evil 2 Remake
Once players have acquired either Leon’s shotgun or Claire’s grenade launcher, enemies such as lickers will become extremely trivial. If used too often players may find themselves out of luck when facing William Birkin or Mr. X.
There are a variety of different weapon mods for these powerful guns. If found, they will turn an already powerful series of weapons into extraordinary. Whether or not you find these mods the shotgun and grenade launchers are extremely important weapons to add to your inventory.
