In this day and age, there’s no better way to hype up a film’s release than creating hundreds of memes in the build-up to the movie’s release. In the case of Fast & Furious 9 - officially known as F9 - we have the meme-making department all set.

Oddly enough, even though the series is supposed to be geared toward action, it is a comedy that makes one want to see these films. That’s because of the number of logic-defying things present here, and these have also been incorporated in these 10 memes that reference F9 and the tropes found in the series overall.

Time For Retirement

As the first film was released about two decades ago, it’s obvious that the characters in-universe has also aged. One of the funnier ways the series addressed this was by placing Dom as being ten years younger than the actor portraying him, despite him looking nothing like a guy in his early-20s in the first movie.

Even if we do consider this retcon in their dates of birth, the fact remains that the characters have to be at least around their middle age, meaning F9 can be considered as something of a retirement party.

Uncanny Resemblance

You would be forgiven for confusing the hype for F9 to be for the Power Rangers series instead, seeing as promotional material for the film seems to be closer to the latter franchise. The most uncanny one has to be the character posters.

Those who’ve seen Power Rangers Turbo will no doubt agree that the colors behind the cars very much look like the ones seen in the aforementioned TV series. Who knows, maybe Dom will be revealed as a White Ranger in the movie?

That Coveted Spot

If you’re a regular cinema-goer then you know that the best spot to watch a film is the one right at the center of the theater. This is where you get the best angle, as well as have the surround sound do its magic on your ears.

However, there might be a few fights lying in wait between siblings as that coveted spot will be up for grabs in the F9 premiere, seeing as it’s guaranteed to have a full house going on the opening weekend.

Hobbs And Shaw’s Missed Chance

The Rock will not be adding F9 to his list of acting credits, and his absence will be sorely missed as he’d been a mainstay since Fast Five. Jason Statham had also been featured heavily in the last few films, which has led some to sarcastically claim that the two simply lost their way to the movie.

That would actually be a fun excuse if something like this were presented in the film; we could have a phone conversation with the characters where they talk about missing the memo for this reunion.

What’s With The Tag Lines?

Just like with the timeline, the series also loves to confuse viewers with the odd naming styles of the movies. No two Fast Saga films have had the same title, but another thing you might not have noticed is how the tag lines seem to be similar each time.

With every new release, we get the tag line reminding us how this adventure is supposed to be the final one for the characters, only for the following installment to repeat this process. We’re at the point where we really do have to ask how this ride can be stopped.

That’s A No-No

Building upon the previous point, let’s talk more about how the film titles never dare to have a note of finality in them. In fact, F9 has brought the subtitle of The Fast Saga with it, which indicates that we’re in for a heck of a long ride to come.

We don’t find it hard to believe that the above meme is how things played out in real life too among the higher-ups behind the film. Another funny point is how Tokyo Drift Redux actually sounds appropriate after the official trailer.

Please No!

Thankfully, based on the trailer, it doesn’t seem as if we will be seeing stuff set in space during F9, but we wouldn’t bet all our money against it either. After all, the films have been notorious for adding in action pieces previously unadvertised.

However, we’re hoping fans don’t walk out the premiere talking about that one sequence set in space, as it would just make the series out to be way too cheesy. If that does happen, though, then perhaps the series really has been forsaken by God.

The First Invisible Villain

The biggest selling point with John Cena has been the joke about him being invisible persisting for years on end. A majority of Cena appearances have come with fans making comments about they can’t see him, which is what this meme is getting around to as well.

Since Cena is supposed to go unseen, the only way to have him appear onscreen would be by employing the use of infrared scans. Regardless, Cena has already achieved the feat of being the first villain in the series to be invisible.

2012 Was Giving Us A Hint

Maybe the reason why John Cena was cast in F9 was to fill in the spot the Rock had left, as this would be considered a valid swap by everyone. With one former WWE World Champion out, the series simply opted for another.

Of course, The Rock and John Cena have already had a long feud before, which culminated in a “Once in a Lifetime” match at WrestleMania. In case you can’t catch the film in theaters, perhaps you should watch WrestleMania instead if you’re looking for spoilers.

The Real Selling Point

The moment F9 ensured it would be grossing over a billion dollars was when the trailer had Han’s return play out. Being one of the most likable characters in the series, Han’s survival also ends the sadness fans have felt over his supposed demise.

This meant just the sight of him feasting on chips once more got people more excited than the actual stunt sequences in the trailer. For this reason, we do have to agree that F9’s release is hyped mainly for Han’s appearance.
