A YouTuber has created a fan trailer for a hypothetical Captain America 4. Since appearing in Captain America: The First Avenger, Steve Rogers went on to become one of the most well-liked characters in the MCU. His presumably final appearance in Avengers: Endgame gave him a happy ending alongside Peggy Carter.
The journey of Captain America through the MCU is fascinating to watch. In his debut movie, Steve Rogers was a weak, but kind person who was turned into a Super Soldier. Steve battled the Red Skull, and ended up sacrificing himself. In the modern day, Cap resumed his duty as a loyal soldier, but as fans started to see in The Avengers, he began to question the government. This became more apparent in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and cam to a head in Captain America: Civil War, where he turned into a fugitive after refusing to sign the Sokovia Accords. He remained a fugitive going into Avengers: Infinity War, but everything changed in Avengers: Endgame. To undo what Thanos accomplished, Steve and Tony Stark put aside their past differences to work together one last time. In the end, the world is saved, and Cap decided to stay in the past to live his life alongside his true trove, Peggy Carter. That would appear to be it for Cap’s story, but as one YouTuber shows, there could be room for one more movie.
A YouTuber named Billy Crammer has created a fan trailer for a “Captain America 4.” Smartly titled Captain America: The Last Avenger, the story follows Steve’s adventures in the past after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Check out the video below.
The trailer is right about one thing: there’s technically a lot of untapped story potential for a Captain America 4. When Steve returned to the past, he spent a lifetime before passing his shield to Falcon. A movie could explore what it meant for the world if Captain America lived past 1945, and the romance between him and Peggy, including a potential wedding. This would surely work as a Disney+ miniseries.
Although there’s enough material for another Captain America adventure, the chances of that happening with Chris Evans seem slim. Robert Downey Jr. recently talked about he and Evans stepping away from the MCU, so it sounds like Avengers: Endgame is indeed the final appearance of Steve Rogers. Still, that doesn’t mean the story of Captain America is over. With Falcon now owning the shield, and getting his own Captain America suit, the legend of Captain America will live on.
