Netflix released the first trailer for Falling Inn Love, a seemingly feel-good romantic comedy. Starring actress and singer Christina Milian and Australian actor Adam Demos, the original Netflix movie appears to check-off all the requirements necessary for a hit romcom, including a picturesque setting, two leads from opposing lifestyles, fun mishaps, and a punny title.

Helmed by Roger Kumble (Just Friends, Cruel Intentions), Falling Inn Love follows Gabriela (Milian), a city-girl devastated by a recent break-up and life hurdles. After a lonely evening partnered with copious amounts of wine and Wi-Fi, Gabriela enters a “Win an Inn” contest.  To her surprise and delight, Gabriela receives notice that she’s won the contest and uproots her life in San Francisco to relocate to the lush countryside of New Zealand. Her dreams, once again, fall flat when she arrives at The Bellbird Valley Farm and discovers the inn is a crumbling facade. Riddled with culture-shock, Gabriela is eager to fix up the property, sell it, and move back to the city. After a literal run-in with a handsome stranger, Gabriela navigates through the community to ascertain that the stranger is Jake Taylor (Demos), a local contractor and reluctantly enlists his help.

Falling Inn Love is in the creative hands of producers Robyn Snyder, Mel Turner, Fernando Szew, and Hannah Pillemer. Filmed on location in New Zealand, Falling Inn Love was directed by Kumble with a script by Elizabeth Hackett and Hilary Galanoy. Restoring her inn, a broken heart, and outlook on life, Gabriela finds more than she bargained for in the upcoming film. The romantic comedy genre has fizzled out in terms of box office pull the last several years. However, Netflix’s commitment to producing original romcoms has garnered massive success. The streaming giant’s impressive romcom collection, including To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Set It Up, and Always Be My Maybe, has helped to ignite the desire to tune in to a film stocked with plenty of feel-good moments, and a little predictability. Hopefully Falling Inn Love will inspire viewers and be an appealing addition to Netflix’s romantic comedy catalog.
