The world of Marvel’s mutants has bee given a fres start, with s new line-up of X-Men books covering almost every aspect of the new mutant nation. While many fans will hope this is a happier time for their favorite mutants, Fallen Angels is telling the story of those heroes who don’t feel quite so… heroic. And early on, it’s looking like one of the best new X-Men books on stands.
Life on Krakoa is anything but calm for mutants like the young Cable, Wolverine’s genetic daughter X-23, and the psychically lethal Psylocke (the actual physical body of Psylocke, formerly known as Kwannon before body-merging with Betsy Braddock, the new Captain Britain). Other mutants may be concerning themselves with gathering lost mutants, fortifying their homeland, or spreading their influence around the globe. But for these Fallen Angels, they’re looking to the future… and for them, that means something far less hopeful. Check out the trailer below for yet another reason to get on board Fallen Angels sooner, rather than later.
Three mutants are unable to find their place in a new homeland, and struggle to find their place in the world. Psylocke grapples with a return to her own body and the loss of a purpose. X-23 hopes that she can still be accepted by her comrades and that her past won’t catch up with her. And Cable contends with living in the shadow of his future self – whom he murdered. Readers can find the full solicitations details and plot synopsis for Fallen Angels #1 below:
This is not a normal team book. The group of characters that we have kind of come together by circumstance. Our main player is Psylocke who has recently been given her agency back, as Betsy Bradock has become Captain Britain. So she is really our way into the narrative. [Szymon Kudranski’s] visual storytelling is really peerless, and I’m excited for people to see the combination of my voice with its intensity, and his voice with his intensity, and how that jumps off the page. People that are looking for something that is both of the now, but also hearkens back to the work of Frank Miller, Elektra: Assassin, those kinds of visceral, almost hypnotic experiences, I think they’ll find that here.
