Bloomberg reports that Facebook is in discussions with Apple about the possibility of adding its Facebook Home interface to iPhones. Facebook Home describes itself as ‘putting your friends at the heart of your phone’, and is effectively a skin that sits on top of Android to display social feeds and messages front-and-centre, with apps taking second place. So far, however, it hasn’t wowed Android users.
Update: In a Wall Street Journal article, Facebook’s COO claims that a “lite” version of Facebook Home will be coming to iOS. The Facebook executive appears to be referring to Facebook bringing some features of Facebook Home to its iOS application. Facebook has already announced a redesigned Facebook for iOS app, so we speculate that this is what the new report refers to.
“It may or may not be Home,” he said. “We could also just bring some of the design values to the iOS app. That might be how it ends up. Or we could build just the lock screen. Maybe then it’s not called Home, it’s called something else.”
