Facebook takes the plunge into the in-house game development feature as they introduced their own version of multiplayer augmented reality video chat games, showing they are not back from snapchat in any sense. Today, Facebook has officially launched their first two AR video chat games that the user can play while chatting.

The first is “Don’t Smile”, a staring contest that will detect when you grin and will contort your face using an AR and turn into an exaggerated Joker smirk and award your opponent marks. The second is “Asteroids Attack”, in which your spaceship navigates with the movement of your face. Along the way, you need to avoid rocks and grab the laser beam powerups. The next expected games are “Beach Bump”, where you pass an AR ball and the other is “Kitten Craze”, a cat matching game.

To play just begin a video chat and tap on the start button and select filter menu and select the desired game. The games are expected to be a hit with kids or those people who have to chat with someone who isn’t really a person to have a conversation with.

For now, it’s going to be ads and in-app purchase free, but as Facebook is well aware of the fact that this is an earning source for many hence, the feature is expected to be added soon.
