If you want to watch Zac Efron’s Ted Bundy movie, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, in the UK, here’s how. Directed by Joe Berlinger, Extremely Wicked premiered at Sundance, where Efron’s performance in particular was praised. The movie also stars Lily Collins as Bundy’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, and is loosely told from her perspective as she comes to terms with the fact that the man she loved is a psychopath and serial killer. Jim Parsons, Kaya Scodelario, and John Malkovich also star.
Bundy was executed in 1989 after confessing to the brutal rape and murders of 30 victims during the 1970s. His actual victim count is unknown and thought to be much higher. The trial and the media frenzy surrounding it was like a soap opera; Bundy was deadly, but exceedingly charismatic, with even the judge being sympathetic towards him.
30 years after his death, Bundy has once more become headline news after the documentary, The Ted Bundy Tapes, aired on Netflix, also directed by Berlinger. The streaming platform seemed a natural fit for Berlinger’s movie, since it focused on the same subject, so it was hardly surprising when they cooped up the US rights. However, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is not airing on Netflix in the UK, to the confusion of many.
Why Extremely Wicked Isn’t On Netflix In The UK
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile isn’t getting a traditional theatrical release. Instead, the movie has been picked up by Netflix in the US and some foreign territories, following its positive reception at Sundance. A limited theatrical release is also planned for the US in order that the movie can qualify for awards season.
In the UK, however, Extremely Wicked was bought by Sky Cinema, meaning Netflix won’t be showing it.
How To Watch Extremely Wicked In The UK
If you already have Sky Cinema as part of your TV package, you’ll easily be able to watch Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. If not, there are several other options available. Extremely Wicked will also have a limited theatrical release in the UK, but you’ll need to find a smaller, independent cinema in a larger city order to watch. Some Showcase theaters are showing it, as are Curzon.
If that’s not possible, and you don’t fancy adding Sky Cinema to your TV package, the other option to watch Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile in the UK is to get a Now TV pass. This currently costs £11.99 a month, though you can cancel at any time. They also offer a free 7-day trial, so if Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is the only movie you want to watch, then you can sign up and cancel before paying for the first month.
