Valiant Comics heroes Quantum and Woody are returning for their own ongoing series from Christopher Hastings, Ryan Browne, and David Nakayama. Ahead of the book’s first issue launching later this month, Screen Rant has an exclusive preview showcasing the interactive, behind-the-scenes plans Valiant has in store for the duo.

Quantum and Woody originally debuted in Acclaim Comics Quantum and Woody series from Christopher Priest and Mark Bright. The 23-issue series ran from 1997 to 2000. Quantum and Woody were revived in 2013 as “the world’s worst superhero team.” The series stars adopted brothers Woody Henderson and Eric Henderson (Quantum). A scientific accident gives Quantum the ability to produce energy blasts, while Woody can create force beams. Oh yeah, there’s also a goat named Vincent Van Goat who has had the consciousness of their dad.

Quantum and Woody #1 features new interactive pre-order materials. Valiant Comics editor Heather Antos described it as pre-order goodness “with a twist.”

Writer Christopher Hastings is relaunching the series and said the pre-order bonus is a cross between “behind the scenes extras and a children’s activity book on the brink of mental breakdown.”

Comics equal fun, plain and simple. So when Drew, Chris, and I were brainstorming content for the series’ pre-order material “fun” was our focus. Imagine all the pre-order goodness readers usually get (cover gallery, script to art process, writer commentary, and more) – but with a twist! Welcome to “Quantum & Woody’s Adult Activity Book”! Filled with mazes, mad libs, and more, there’s enough behind-the-scenes content to keep you busy as you learn about how the comic got made!

The pre-order editions are set to come with some cool extras besides the usual character designs, creator commentaries and scripting, and the art process. Quantum and Woody #1 pre-order editions will feature a connect the dots section as well as a spot the difference section which are more than just bonuses. The extras will match the zany tone behind the book and expand the fun from the series outside the core story. It’s a unique idea that fits perfectly alongside the humor of the book.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a combination of ‘behind the scenes extras’ and ‘children’s activity book on the brink of mental breakdown’ before, but that’s our pre-order bonus, and I love it. It’s goofy but also insightful and it’s just another example of the level of care that everyone involved is putting into this comic. If you want to see this bonus content, pre-order now. (Also, if you want to make absolutely certain you get to read the book at all, you should pre-order now, lest some title like ‘Batman’s Lament Vol IV: Egghead’s Mystery Egg’ take Quantum & Woody’s space on your local shop’s shelf instead.

Screen Rant also has exclusive looks at new covers from the series from Steve Lieber and Gurihiru, as well as Erica Henderson and Joe Quinones.
